"Projecting the Holocaust into the Present: The Changing Focus of Contemporary Holocaust Cinema"

The Department of History's German Studies, Judaic Studies, and IICAS' European Studies are proud to host Dr. Lawrence Baron of San Diego State University on Monday, May 8, 2006 from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM in the Humanities and Social Sciences building, HSS 4025.  His lecture, "Projecting the Holocaust into the Present: The Changing Focus of Contemporary Holocaust Cinema" will present an overview of his book tracing the major changes in the genres and themes of Holocaust recent feature films like Europa Europa, Schindler's List, Aimee and Jaguar, Life Is Beautiful, and The Devil's Arithmetic.  The closest parking lots are P207 and P208; permits may be purchased at parking lot P303.

European Studies business lunch

Political Economy of Development Lecture Series

On Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM in SSB 107, Dr. Kenneth Scheve of the University of Michigan will give a lecture entitled "Social Identity, Electoral Institutions, and the Number of Candidates ".  Lunch will be provided.  The closest metered parking is available in the Pangea parking structure; the Social Science Building is building number 490 on the UCSD map.  For more information about Dr. Scheve and to read his paper, please visit his website
