IICAS would like to thank all the co-sponsors, program supporters, and event attendees who have contributed to the success of IICAS events for the 2007-2008 academic year. IICAS Supports UCSD Sustainability Initiative

Demonstrating support for UCSD's sustainability efforts, IICAS staff can now pedal across campus to complete errands, thanks to IICAS' new Triton Bike. Triton Bikes are available to campus departments, colleges and programs, as part of  UCSD's continuing effort to reduce fossil fuel dependence and improve sustainability.

2008-2009 IICAS Research and Travel Grant Recipients

IICAS is pleased to announce that the 2008-2009 conference grant, faculty research grant, and student travel grants have been awarded.

Conference Grants

A Conference grant was awarded for the support of a research conference in international, comparative or cross-regional studies. This grant was awarded to Akos Rona-Tas, UCSD Professor of Sociology, for the conference titled, "Paradigms of Risk Assessment and Uncertainty in Policy Research."

 

 

Faculty Research Grants

The Faculty Research Grant will support research and research planning activities of faculty teams whose intellectual interests promise to produce significant collaborative projects.This grant was awarded to Luis Martin Cabrera, UCSD Professor of Literature, for his research in the "Audiovisual Archive of the Spanish Civil and the Francoist Dictatorship."

Travel Grants, Graduate and Undergraduate Students

Student grantees received up to $1,000 to partially offset dissertation or senior honors thesis research travel expenses.

Grants were awarded to 16 graduate students and one undergraduate student:
